Before I cut out all of the pattern pieces properly I added small filler pieces of patchwork to the edges that were shorter or had gaps – I used the white scraps I had cut out but ended up not using because they didn’t fit in with colour palette. I made sure to only use the white scraps in the seam allowance to it wouldn’t show once I had sewn the trousers together.
Once I had filled in all the gaps I trimmed them using the trouser pattern. Following the instructions for the trousers, I sewed the crotch together, then the back to the front, finally adding an elastic to the waist and hemming the bottom of the trouser legs.
